COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Horizon Airlines, the regional carrier for Alaska Airlines, announced that current pilot shortages have forced them to discontinue service to Colorado Springs, effective November 4. The airline currently provides one daily flight to Seattle, WA. An Alaska Airlines spokesperson stated that, “Unfortunately, these shortages are expected to continue for some time.” Since August of this year, the airline has exited a number of markets due to the pilot shortage.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Moody’s Investors Service has maintained a rating of Baa1 on City of Colorado Springs Airport Enterprise’s Airport System Revenue Bonds.  The outlook is stable.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Colorado Springs Airport (COS) recorded a total of 161,612 passengers traveling through COS during the month of July 2017, a 35.3 percent increase from July 2016.  Frontier Airlines largely contributed to the increase with a 244 percent gain in passenger enplanements from one year ago.

COS continues to reach new heights.  For the first seven months of 2017, a total of 889,091 passengers have moved through COS, an increase of 27 percent from one year ago.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Colorado Springs Airport (COS) recorded 68,315 enplaned passengers and 68,685 deplaned passengers in June 2017, for a combined total of 137,000 passengers traveling through COS.  This represents an increase of 22.5 percent from June 2016.  Frontier Airlines largely contributed to the increase with a 279 percent gain in passenger enplanements from one year ago.

Year-to-date passenger traffic continues to take-off.  For the first six months of 2017, a total of 727,479 passengers have moved through COS, an increase of 25 percent from one year ago.

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Airport recently completed a project to retrofit the overhead lighting system for the airport’s aircraft parking apron where aircraft are parked, serviced and boarded.

In total, 81 high pressure 1000 watt sodium lamps were replaced with 56 LED 300 watt lights.  The airport maintenance staff monitored the lighting with input from the airlines and determined the lighting equaled or exceeded the illumination of the existing high pressure sodium lamps.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Colorado Springs Airport (COS) recorded 64,222 enplaned passengers and 63,972 deplaned passengers in May 2017, for a combined total of 128,194 passengers traveling through COS.  This represents an increase of 13.4 percent from May 2016.  Frontier Airlines largely contributed to the increase with a 188 percent gain from one year ago.

Year-to-date passenger traffic is also on the rise.  So far this year, 590,479 passengers moved through COS, an increase of 25.6 percent from one year ago.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings has affirmed its BBB+ long-term rating on the Colorado Springs Airport (COS) series 2014 airport revenue refunding bonds and indicated the outlook is stable.

S&P noted that while Denver International Airport is a major competitor to COS, “…we also believe the continued growth in the Colorado Springs economy bolsters the airport’s prospects for positive enplanement trends to continue to a modest extent, to the extent that service levels by the primary carriers, including Frontier, are sustained or grow.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A total of 59,263 passengers traveled through the Colorado Springs Airport (COS) in April 2017, an increase of 21.2 percent from the same time last year.  The increase is mainly attributed to Frontier Airlines returning to the Airport in April 2016.

As a result of 69 more flights during the month of April, Frontier Airlines saw a significant gain in passenger traffic in April 2017 compared to April 2016.  United Airlines posted a passenger increase of 5.2 percent, followed by Alaska Airlines at 5 percent, and American Airlines at 2.8 percent from the same time...
