COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the deployment of a millimeter wave Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) unit at the Colorado Springs Airport (COS). The machine is equipped with automated target recognition (ATR) software designed to enhance privacy by eliminating passenger-specific images while improving throughput capabilities and streamlining the checkpoint screening process.

Mayor Steve Bach to honor Airport Ambassadors with Spirit of Springs Award


Colorado Springs, CO- Mayor Steve Bach will present the Spirit of the Springs Award to the Colorado Springs Airport Ambassadors with special recognition of Joe Strahs on Friday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. The award presentation will be held in the 2nd floor atrium of the Colorado Springs Airport, 7770 Milton E. Passenger numbers at the Colorado Springs Airport in October jumped from a year ago by the biggest percentage in nearly seven years as a marketing campaign aimed at leisure and business travelers in Houston, Seattle and Illinois paid big dividends.Passenger traffic for the month was up 9.7 percent from October 2013 to 55,450, the biggest year-over-year increase for any month since February 2008.

AOPA’s 2015 Fly-Ins are scheduled for California’s Salinas Municipal Airport (SNS) on May 16, Minnesota’s Anoka County-Blaine Airport (ANE) on Aug. 22, Colorado’s Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (COS) on Sept. 26, and Tennessee’s Tullahoma Regional Airport (THA) on Oct. 10. Colorado Springs Airport (COS) reports an increase in airline load factors during the holiday travel season of 2014. This resulted from a holiday parking promotion that included free short-term and long-term parking for the months of November and December.

This customer appreciation strategy proved to be worthwhile, increasing airline load factors during the holiday season.
